About us

A market decades in the making

Gather Local Market is proud to call Saskatoon’s iconic Farmers Market Building home. What began as shop space for the City of Saskatoon’s Electrical Department in 1939 has evolved into a social space designed to bring communities together and create new ones along the way.

With the help of our next door neighbour, Ideas Inc., Gather is an accessible, inclusive, and interactive place for people to eat, drink, shop, and support Saskatchewan’s thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Gather Local Announces Transition of Market Operations

April 25, 2025 – Gather Local Marketplace Inc.“Gather”, the non-profit operator of the Gather Local Market located at 414 Avenue B South in Saskatoon the “Market”, announces the transition of operations at Gather to the City of Saskatoon the “City”. After dialogue and collaboration with the City, both Gather and the City have determined that the City will assume operations of Gather on an interim basis until an RFP for a new operator can be issued. Gather wishes to sincerely thank the City for their collaboration and guidance during this process.
The formal transition will occur effective May 8, 2025, with Gather collaborating with the City to ensure the success of this transition. Gather does not come by this decision lightly. It ultimately believes that it was the right entity to launch the Market. However, the Market now requires a different operator to reach its full potential. Financial and operational constraints, which have placed a significant strain on Gather’s limited non-profit resources, have made it clear that a new operator is required for long term success of the Market.
In coming to this decision, Gather has been guided by a desire to ensure a successful future for the tenants currently within the Market. These tenants are the heart and soul of the Market. They are the small businesses that make this City great and the entrepreneurs worthy of support in our community. Gather wishes all the tenants the best in their future business operations and will work collaboratively with the City to ensure a smooth transition of tenant relations at the Market.

Gather would not be where and what it is today without the support of people, partners, and businesses from all parts of Saskatchewan. A special thanks to the folks below, and to countless others who back our vision of a next-level local market.
